Just Be Yourself…

When we confide in a supportive friend or loved one about our anxiety concerning a situation—whether this is related to impending behavior on a romantic first date, a job interview, or happy hour with prospective friends,  we are often given the advice, “Just be yourself.”  This advice, rooted in wisdom, is usually much easier said than done. Often unbeknownst to us, many of us have lost track of who we are authentically. Usually, we the image that we “buy into” of who we are does not serve us. We may think we are one way because others have told us so. We may be often fully integrated in activities that we feel we are “good at” but where our passion truly does not lie. Sometimes we choose to believe that we need to be a certain way. To claim this…
